Washing your hands regularly wouldn't be a bad idea but most sinks in public toilets are so bad you would probably pick something else up. Putting on a mask in public places if you have have a cold or cough would be good manners but shouldn't be compulsory.

It is still a danger to a section of the population and they should be looked after, not ignored.

I don't think schools and colleges had any choice to close but it should have been followed with a plan to deal with the impact on children's development. There hasn't been one like there hasn't been one for immune compromised people.

Firstly this would require a functioning government to prepare the necessary legislation. Putting that aside if any mask mandate, or any other restriction, is now put in place then it really has to stay forever because the virus isn't going anywhere. I was at a concert a few weeks back and got...

Would have to go through parliament again, although I don't see it happening.

My suspicion is there won't be any further Covid restrictions put in place but if you do have to wear a mask on public transport come Winter then stop moaning and wear one.

I am not sure there is a lot to add to the conversation anymore. Face coverings have largely been given up on and people have decided if they thought the restrictions were proportionate or not and won't be moved from that opinion so why bother anymore?

If only people had protested at the time. Oh sorry, they did.

Absolute twaddle. Any government in a democracy attempting that wouldn't remain a government much longer.

I don't recall anyone actually suggesting putting electronic alarms on people's door or kicking them out their homes to disinfect them but you crack on.

We also still have a highly infectious disease that is more than capable of keeping healthy and vaccinated people off work for a few days and can easily work through an office or other workplace in no time. The fact a lot of places are still at least partially WFH is keeping a lid on it at the...

Main Coronavirus / Covid-19 Discussion Thread

I think people are beginning to look back at what happened through the prism of what we know now. Certainly in this country the government outright came out and said the restrictions were in place to stop the NHS being overrun and they tended to get rid of them as quick as they could when...

You can't argue with stats and the comparison with France and Germany is probably fair but Sweden did have some Covid restrictions and you still can't visit there for non essential reasons from outside the EU/EEA until the end of the month and it does note Finland next door did better. Had this...

For the 1000th time: Broadly speaking you wearing a mask is protecting others, not yourself. I absolutely agree that with widespread vaccine take up there is much less reason to wear one now but people not wearing a mask are inflicting themselves on everyone else. Please note I am only now...

I am nine days into isolating and just got my first negative test. Without free testing I would have probably had one or two days at home then gone about my merry way with a slightly blocked nose not sure if I had Covid or not. It all seems a bit abrupt to me although if the self isolation...

I think there are some very good people out there and some very good organisations but without a legal mandate it is swimming against the tide. There does need to be a plan in place, enshrined in law, for immune suppressed people. People asking what they did before are basically confirming it...

TBF it hasn't been that bad and more importantly not that bad for my 77 year old mother who also had it. When I had my first jab last year I had the shivers that evening and retired to bed and felt fine in the morning. On Sunday evening the same thing happened, which I am assuming was my...

Funnily enough I am isolating at the moment. Glad I was able to get it in while I could. I am sure people will say I have said this for every restriction being lifted but I am of he opinion we should wait until winter is over.
