Zero charisma!!!! she's hardly a stunning orator! I like Keir Starmer but realise that he is not the most exciting person on the planet, but Liz Truss makes him seem wonderfully exciting.

And she needs a new speech-writer.

She is a plank of wood with lipstick on

Yes, the “we love Boris” section of the speech, in particular Kyiv to Carlisle bit went down like a fart in a lift...!

My prediction is that Truss will implement some kind of short term energy cost relief and then spend two years saying she got the big decisions right, a la Boris Johnson.

When in fact she should be fighting for better wages and a £15 minimum wage so that people are not in the position of having g to choose which children to feed and whether they can heat their home or not.

Wages need to go up, costs need to come down. End of.

As Paul Johnson of the IFS has said in terms of fiscal policy, Truss is planning:
1, a massive 'handout' on energy prices that far exceeds the furlough
2, a tax cut that no-one else thinks necessary
3, ruling out windfall taxes on the energy companies despite 1, above
4, with inflation currently at 10% and forecast to as much as double within the next six months AND current budgeting for public services at just 3% for health, education, pensions, etc
Debt is going to spiral, which currently stands at 95% of GDP. It was much lower than that when the public bought Osborne's call for austerity and, as a result of Osborne's policies alongside plenty of other Tory policies, austerity et al has led us to greater debt.

I have little doubt that Truss will seek to reduce the debt hike by targeting 4. The big question is whether the unions accept that. What will nurses, teachers, junior doctors and others do? If they do something, will Truss' charm and empathy diffuse or inflame these industrial relations?

Hacks got that completely wrong then, confidently predicting today that she’d remain Culture Sec.

In retrospect, keeping a minister who is clearly STILL head-over-heals with the former Prime Minster is something that even Thick Lizzie wouldn’t consider. Especially when news of the inevitable affair comes out.

It’s a funny thing politicians in power cheating on their partner, in France, Italy and Greece the likes of Mitterand and Chirac heroes for doing so.

The UK’s caught forever in this faux morals maze.

Pretty certain many are predicting Nads will be bumped up to the Lords.

“Before joining the cabinet, Ms Dorries wrote a series of novels including the best-selling Four Streets based on her experience of growing up in Liverpool.
BBC politics editor Chris Mason said the Mid Bedfordshire MP had considered staying on as culture secretary but had decided to return to writing books.”

For some, being a constituency MP affords hours and hours of spare time to pursue one’s hobbies or other business interests. Mad Nads is typical of this sort of MP, she won’t be seen much in the commons along with her dream husband, Mr Johnson who will be busy hitting the after dinner speech circuit around the globe.

I doubt she was pushed. Now has a nice easy one in the House of Lords (as promised by Johnson) and can concentrate on her novels.

However, she was seen as divisive by many MPs and hopefully they now quietly drop the insane and damaging and anti-competitive plan to privatise (*) Channel Four.

(*) = Sell off to overseas owners, who will turn it into a production house, thus damaging the independent production market.

We will never know poverty like it under these Tories. If only some of the electorate could get their heads out their blue arses and see we need a government for the many, not the few, or it’ll come home to roost soon enough with everything else happening in the world. Expecting a revolution, and a bloody one, someone in next few decades. People are tired. Angry. And hopeless. Entire parliamentary apparatus needs dismantling and rebuilding. Country is rotten to the core, corruption and self interest endemic without any sense of duty, moral compass and public service amongst many of the establishment and population in general. The pursuit of money has become everything. And everything.

My favourite Dorries clip.

Only Nadine could justify the privatisation of Channel Four by claiming Channel Five was successfully privatised.

Definitely, the quickest way to yield £10m’s.

Waiting for applause which doesn’t come…….. or does, eventually! And I believe Carlisle has recently gone Labour!
