If this is for the Algeria game then I'd pick Crouch as they'll probably put 11 men behind the ball. For anyone decent then I'd go with Gerrard playing off Rooney.

I know Heskey had a good game yesterday, but this allows England's best players: Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney to play in there best positions. Also Joe Cole will chip in with a few goals.
Would play James ahead of Green regardless of last nights howler.
Also think Upson needs to play as Carragher is too slow and looked knackered playing at altitude even though he was only on for 45. Feel Upson would deal with this better....

That seems as good as it gets but i still believe Hart is good enough, James seems prone to the odd howler too in big games, the next two games seems an ideal time to give him a chance as i think we will win the next two anyway

I wouldn't put Hart in just yet, too young and inexperienced for a world cup. If he makes a Green-esque shocker that'll be another promising keeper's international career down the drain to go with Carson and now RG.

Would be happy with that. Interesting that the majority of views is to leave Green out and play 5 in the middle. Pity Capello hasn't worked this out yet! What was that bollocks yesterday playing Lennon and SWP, no wonder Gerrard and Lampard looked a bit overrun at times, they were on their own as the 2 wingers don't mark, tackle, track back, or even create much!

I can't believe anyone is even CONSIDERING playing a team that is different to this one. We need Rooney and Gerrard, two of the best players in the world, playing in their best positions and where they are so effective for their clubs.
If Fabio doesn't at least employ this formation, when almost everybody can see that it is what we need, I will be very disappointed. If we are going to go far in this tournament this is the team we need to play.
Edit: I also agree with everything else you've written, by the way, but hopefully King will be fit. Great post.
