Fitness will be the key- he has had rotten luck over the last few years.
Was out for a few months with a knee injury last season, then got this shoulder injury that has kept him out for large parts of this season. Our medical team obviously fancy their chances though which is a good sign.

They have pulled off what can only be described as a miracle on previously long term sick note Welbeck

In terms of where he is most likely to contribute to the team - and assuming both Mac and Caicedo leave in the summer - this is what I think:

1. Defensive Central Midfielder replacement for Caicedo.
2. Insurance policy in case Moder doesn't regain form / fitness.
3. Insurance policy in case Gilmour / MacAllister's replacement gets injured.
4. Experience of European football.

If you haven't seen Bellingham much lately I'd argue he's the best CM in world football presentely. He is a phenomenal talent.

Re his playing position, he is comfortable deep but I don't think he can be classed as a DM, he certainly won't do the work Caicedo does and will be encouraged to get much further up the field IMHO.
