The kid is potentially SO good, I was erect at the prospect of his brilliance last night. He's so raw, he's very young but his talent is clear and shines bright like a diamond. He's potentially incredible.

Playing in a more natural position IMO.
He shouldn’t play wide.
He's clearly much better there, but needs must, and we don't have too many wide attacking options at present. When/if Enciso, Welbeck and Fati are back up and running, there's going to be a lot of competition for just two attacking central positions. Note also that Mitoma and Adingra are off for a while in Jan.
All I'm saying is that, rather than just focusing on where he plays best, we also need to factor in where there are gaps for him to play as many minutes as possible (which is what he'll ultimately want I suspect).

Agreed, but there’s a fine line between damaging a young players confidence by playing him out of position, and we playing him where he can establish himself.

Hinshelwood is a clear exception to the above though.

Cracking second half from our young Argentinian against a Palace side that looked very uncomfortable after our half time changes - we looked much more dangerous in the final third when he came on (with Welbz) - put in some important defensive work too. Not afraid to take on several of the opposition now and once he makes those long runs down the middle, it’s reminiscent of how he played at Rosario..

Worked well with Jack I thought too - some good overlaps from Jack allowing Facu to cut inside and create some chances in the 18 yard area. Was even more effective when Moder came on and he moved to a central attacking position.

It’s taken him a while to find his feet but he’s looking very comfortable now and confident in his role.

Beginning to look a real player. The occasional game through the middle seems to have done his confidence the world of good.
Yep. Playing in the middle is the big change.

He’s really starting to show his potential now. Changed the game today.
This. Really injected some momentum tonight into our forward play. Hope this will really boost his confidence.

Sadly we now await to see if Mitoma's knock is serious. He's looking tired at the moment and looks more likely to go to ground too easily looking for a penalty rather than beat the player.

He needs a rest, looks knackered & uninspired at the moment.

If Mitoma’s knock is enough to rule him out of Japan’s squad but not enough to cause a really long term issue, might work in our favour.

Spot on. Gets better every time he plays 10. Not a winger though. We have to strengthen out wide in January both defensively and up front and let this guy develop in his normal position.

There’s no way we should be using developing teenagers as emergency stop gaps.
