I think the tenacity has been on show since day one but I'm slightly sceptical that he's cut out to be a DM. Certainly he could play as an 8 though. In fact, it's quite likely that he'll move between the 8/10 role imo. To some extent he'd be wasted any deeper, wouldn't he?
