[Albion] Brighton & Hove Albion vs Aston Villa *** Official Match Thread ***

Thought Webster was excellent today. Tight on Watkins and had his passing boots on. Maybe he's a keeper. (That's a keeper - not a 'keeper)

[Albion] Brighton & Hove Albion vs West Ham United *** Official Match Thread ***

If West Ham played on my lawn I'd draw the curtains, to misquote Bill Shankley.

[Football] Please help support Oxford United’s new stadium proposal

All done, including a gratuitous reference in the comments box to the old Manor Ground, which I visited often while working in Headington (Aldridge & Houghton era). Hopefully this will swing the argument decisively in your favour. Good luck.

    [Music] Jeff Beck - RIP

Oh boy! May he rest in peace. A key player in the soundtrack to my life from the day I bought my my first single with a birthday record token - For Your Love by the Yardbirds.

[Football] Can we talk about VAR?

I’d love to talk about VAR but with a clear distinction between two elements. There is the technology that allows incidents to be examined forensically and repeatedly until the facts are laid bare for all to see. Let’s call that VAR1. Then there is the implementation of the technology. This...

    [Football] Haaland

I remember being very excited to see Ossie Ardiles and Glenn Hoddle together for Keith Birkinshaw's Spurs at the Goldstone. We lost 2-0 as I recall, mainly because of Steve Perryman who kept taking the ball off us and giving it to one of them.

Never trust anyone whose agent loses their phone in the North Sea.

[Sussex] Cafe suggestions in Seaford please

You and I had a remarkably similar youth!

    [Albion] Dunk v Wilson

Me too. And there was a clear and unequivocal winner of the duel too. I thought we were very brave to go man to man against Almiron, Wilson and Saint-Maximin, but it allowed us to dominate midfield, especially when Newcastle tired. All this thanks to Dunky and Potter's trust in his back three.

[Music] Favourite music "artist" who you know is s**t

Bananarama for me. Vaguely pretty girls with lipgloss in dungarees who look like they might be a handful. No standout tracks but fun to both watch and listen to.

[Albion] 50 years ago today 3/5/72

I was 15 years old and there in a very crowded North Stand knowing without any doubt that I would still be supporting this club in 50 years time.

    [Albion] Premier League 23-25/4/22

    Gotta love Luke Ayling!

[Albion] Steve Gritt at half time

I agree with all of the above but was also struck by his eloquence regarding those two games and their relevance to the setting in which he found himself. I was really impressed by him and felt his words deserved a larger and more attentive audience.

[Brighton] Question for the old farts

I rang the club last summer to ask this exact question and I was told unequivocally that the cut off date is 1st December. Imagine my delight to hear this, as I was due to turn 65 on 30th November 2021.

[Football] Your Scottish Club and why?

According to his Wiki page he signed for Dundee United in 1979, so unlikely to have played before I left the city. It was indeed very cold, but they did sell excellent Bovril at Tannadice which helped. It was too hot to handle at the start of half-time but freezing cold if you hadn't drunk it...

[Misc] Children Saying Thank You Christmas/Birthday Gifts!

In our household/family, presents handed over do not need a formal thank you, although I would be frankly astonished if any of my four kids did not express their gratitude in some way. For gifts received through the post, there is an expectation that a thank you by letter or text will be...

[Brighton] Mac Allister - why isn't he playing more?

After Lallana's injury, when he played more centrally, I thought he bossed the game. He has more potential than anyone in this squad, IMHO.

[Football] Albion players - trademark moves

A couple of full backs spring to mind. Eddie Spearrit's windmill arms after releasing a long throw. Bruno's through the legs trap of the long ball down the touchline, resulting in it having just the right amount of backspin for his next touch past the bewildered winger and away.
