Not just the results. Sitting in our Amex seats bored and frustrated as a comatose Albion with no drive and little pace play Potterball. After 10 minutes an optimistic and noisy NS quietens to lone shouts, chatter amongst mates, then 30 minute half times boozing.
It couldn’t be more removed...
Martin O’Neill knows more than us.
“In an industry, the changes that I’ve noticed taking place, the owners and CEOs want to run the show. I was a manager of football clubs. I wasn’t a head coach and that is what people are looking for now. They can dictate to the head coach who comes in and who...
But he’s not a club manager in the old sense, as explained in a recent Martin O’Neill interview about modern football. The directors and their specialists decide which players they go after and sign, ‘managers’ now have a small say at best. Control freaks Arteta and Guardiola might be the two...
It’s a 13th place centre midfield, Lamptey isn’t a top drawer right back, once Ferguson went on a goal drought our fate upfront was sealed. Onana and Gomez of car crash Everton would walk into our CM, Wolves have got a proper CM. Lallana, Milner, Gilmour and Gross must be amongst the slowest...
I loved it being Ashley Young … a diver and miserable f@cker, all the way back to our FAC trip to Villa Park all those years ago … mocked by the 5,400 Albion on the day.
On the basis that last season was our zenith so far, I put the dip down to:
- The additional games. Fulham, Tottenham, Wolves get a juicy rest and week’s prep before most PL games.
- Inadequate squad building last summer, especially with Thursday games coming too.
- Losing MacA, Caicedo and...
Yes, have agreed with you and @Herr Tubthumper all season about all that. There was a cringy moment in tonight’s game a couple of minutes in when either Lukaku or Dybala faced solely Gilmour when attacking at the centre circle. His lack of pace there for all to see. Not cringy against...
If Bloom won’t deliver the quality we need at DM and LB this summer, I’d say it would better to have a new manager. RDZ’s system relies on 8 or 9 quality players being at the top of their game all game. Without that we’re highly vulnerable at the back.
The press conferences have lost the verve (great band) of 6 months ago. From the outside, it appears he’s hedging his bets. Probably gone imho.
A penny for TB’s thoughts!
