Spot on about the nations poor health. A taboo subject, people talk the talk when it suits them about the obesity and junk food crisis (it’s all true), but are physicians and scientists allowed to relay the effect of that on vulnerability to Covid. Mrs W on Covid wards on the front line early...

Did you see that Sturgeon and her cabinet deleted all their pandemic Whatsapp messages on official phones. That’s the way to go.

The results won’t and almost can’t look at the big picture. Undoubted nursing home deaths in spring 2020 will be the media focus, whilst how do you balance that against the damage to mental health. Friends had hitherto confident parents circa 80 years old who lost all confidence due to locked...

MrsW was seconded to the Covid wards, having to wear the full pandemic clobber. The critically ill were far more often than not unvaccinated and/or very unhealthy so vulnerable. I know Covid deniers who passed away. In hindsight the restrictions were too tough, cruel eg rules on socialising...

So now we should’ve had more full lockdowns. Forgetting the adverse effects on a generation of kids, still discussed in great detail by experts/parents on R5/R4/LBC. The children’s mental health crisis that started in March 2020. Lost; confidence, structure to life, social skills. Vast...

You’re the last nsc’er standing who isn’t seriously suffering. Wake up and smell the coffee - we need some form of strict lockdown now, mandatory mask wearing in all indoor spaces and some non-Covid treatments postponed by the NHS. It’s ridiculous that football stadia are still open and that...

Having been in packed-like-sardine conditions in London today, I expect to see a peak in case numbers in about 10 days time.

It must be a haphazard vaccination programme, for the latest jab. My parents and their associates in their 80’s and 70’s were vax’d in April/May. Luckily those who are on the Brighton Racecourse list get contacted without fail it appears. Is it still open though? Vital in boosting immunity.

That is true. A strain on the NHS. But thankfully not translating into fatalities due to Covid. According to Dr Xand, folk over 65 should keep up to date with vaccinations, large numbers haven’t bothered.

Parents and mental health experts were repeatedly talking about this in May/June 2020. Ignored. Whilst ‘Independent’ Sage, Drakeford and some limelight hogging data modellers had tunnel vision for just one worst case aspect of human health.

Relief …. so I wasn’t the only miserable sod who didn’t laugh! With Covid threads it was even less funny, it ignited rows between the genuinely worried and libertarians.

Mrs.W has never worked in Oncology, I wouldn't have a clue about the latest mask and visitation rules in those parts. Presumably tighter?

That would be to all categories of people in or visiting hospitals, shirley? Consultants/CEO's wouldn't cavalierly deem let's abandon masks if the staff are safe, but patients are at risk of severe illness/death FROM (not with) Covid. I'd hope. You and I don't work for the NHS, so it's hard...

The feedback I have on why Worthing Hospital removed the mask wearing rule, is that the bosses/consultants jointly deemed the risks (of severe illness) to now be negligible and that staff absences were at low and acceptable levels. But they're all well aware that masks may return should a new...

I’ll find out. On the key metric of deaths, Variants BA.4 (identified in January) and BA.5 (in February) appear simply not to be killing folk. The reasons, looking and listening to a consensus of objective scientists and risk experts, seems to be that 87% of us took at least two jabs, with...
