Thanks, I guess :)
Yes, my opinion is that Sanchez was better than our current keepers, certainly Steele and at the moment Bart but hoping that kid can develop. Still haven't seen the worldies from Bart that Sanchez used to pull off, but his overall game is promising.
Create a narrative? Yeah...
Alright, thats what you've heard and if true, yeah it adds up. I would like to hear the other side - there's always two sides - but I guess we won't. Such a shame that a relationship can break down like that and not be resolved because in the end everyone loses. Still can't quite get my head...
which bit? I mean, I'm trying to consider all sides here. You've heard he acted badly so was dropped, and kept on acting badly so he wasn't recalled, and the decision was made not to play him again? Yeah? We know that others have reported they heard the opposite to you, so its all hearsay, but I...
Well, no, you can debate the language but he was effectively pushed out. Dropped for someone not as good as him, back for a couple of the biggest games in our history (first ever win at Stamford Bridge, Cup semi-final) but despite playing well was put back on the bench, and then told in no...
I think if he didn't care and just wanted a move he would have sat happily on the bench. He wanted to play. RDZ didn't want to play him. Maybe that was justified by off field stuff, we'll never know. But this thread is really about him being dropped in the first place, I have never got my head...
Sanchez almost did exactly that away at Palace one year, think the 'don't let it bounce' game. Him and Duffy were right up at the Palace fans in the corner at the end, marvelous scenes.
Good, at least we've got to the same place. Thanks for admitting you revised your opinion of his ability based on what happened after he was dropped. I think the premise that he was a very good keeper stands, and we can wonder what would have been if never dropped. We'd probably still be calling...
Alright, fair enough, i did use the search button for myself and found a whole host of threads about Sanchez.
They go in a pattern. All the way up to Palace they are full of praise. Discussions about his ability to come did a cross being one of the best in the league. A long thread wondering...
Football is a team sport, but nothing he did in the pitch suggested he wasn't committed to that. And how Cantona would have behaved if benched every game, I think we can all imagine.
Thanks for the detailed post. I won't dispute it, but i will just repeat the saying that history is written by the winners. Sanchez has gone and his story is set and any counter arguments will disappear on the breeze.
That said, what your post demonstrates is that he was dropped for his...
Yep, that's why I thought RDZ did it. However whilst that style of play was amazing for a brief period, it's largely been found out and we don't do it that much anymore. Steele is going long or chipping wide with little through the middle. His kicking has become pretty poor of late. Bart...
Ha, yeah I'm with you, but people will believe what they want to believe and no point arguing with them. All you can do is make sure the facts are laid out best as they can be and allow all the silent readers to make up their own minds.
He didn't need to refuse to play, he wasn't playing. Anyway, this thread isn't about Sanchez refusing to play, this thread is about Sanchez being dropped in the first place and not being recalled. What did you think about that?
