[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

That isn’t criticism of the club’s transfer policy. I’m afraid this entire thread has been fed by fans who are critical of the club’s transfer policy and who are interpreting RDZ’s words to match their own view.

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

Yes. I haven’t seen one quote from RDZ where he criticizes the club’s recruitment policy in January.

But RDZ has been playing youngsters since he arrived. If he doesn’t think those two are quite ready, well, he is paid to make those calls.

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

When did he criticize the club’s recruitment policy in January ? I must have missed that.

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

And the idea that Klopp doesn’t moan and make excuses is completely insane. As is this forum in the week we play Roma. Have Brighton fans become the most entitled in world football or is it just the users of this forum ? I’m going for the latter.

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

There’s a lot to get through on this thread and lots of rewriting of history. Any manager would struggle with the number of injuries to attacking players. There is nothing wrong with the RDZ style. I would argue the opposite given the injury situation. Perhaps everyone needs to stop having a...

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

I think it should just stop. No conditions for Phoenix to follow.

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

I guess the club believed that in Baleba, Dahoud and Gilmour they had enough cover. It’s their call. Your stats are also a bit one sided because we don’t know how many goals would have been conceded if Caicedo had stayed.

Fair play to you for sticking up for yourself.

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

Yep, not to mention going on strike. It would be nice if some moved on from Caicedo. We sold him for value. That’s all that matters. If people think they can run the club better then stick your money on the table.

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

I would be prepared to negotiate with Barcelona. Everyone has their price. In RDZ’s case that price would start at £75m but I might be negotiated down to £50m. Tony plays hardball though so I would expect him to stick at 75. After all RDZ has performed way above expectations since that derisory...

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

Yes. And we won’t be so successful during those seasons. However, if we don’t look and don’t give these youngsters a run in the team then we will never find them. It’s not strange at all to be pleased that Caicedo was put straight into the team as soon as needed.

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

We wouldn’t have sold Caicedo for £115m without our model of promoting him when he was unknown to replace (in his case) Bissouma. Likewise all the other sales. If you had your way Caicedo and the other youngsters would never have been in the team in the first place.

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

I haven’t seen the interview but taking your interpretation at face value I would say he couldn’t be more wrong. The upward trajectory since Tony took over is staggering. Trying to compete with oil states isn’t ambition. It’s stupidity.

[Albion] De Zerbi: 'We deserved to lose...I understood the problem in January!"

Couldn’t agree more. There is so much earnestly given but pointless advice and analysis being given by people on here at the moment. The classic being ‘don’t concede first.’ When the f*** did that become a pearl of wisdom ?

What’s the rest of the quote ? I can’t find it.
