[Albion] Aaron Connolly - joining Hull permanently

We have been saying this for 4 seasons; he's 24 now. For whatever reason he does not have the ability to suceed at the higher level. I'm sure there will be a L1 or L2 club or two which is a little bit dazzled by the fact he's a former EPL player and offers him a deal with the belief they can...

True. But that doesn’t mean the situation is irretrievable, in fact he said he’d learnt and ditched the hangers on when he went to Boro.

But he did get the “middle ground” as he went on loan to a bunch of clubs albeit at a slightly later stage in his career. He was given every opportunity after the 2019/2020 season but it seems he’s not good enough.

A question I have, is what are these loans supposed to provide a player? And what’s stopping a player getting the same benefits of a loan at a later stage in their career? My point being is there a significance difference going on loan to Venice/Boro/Hull in 2019/20 as opposed to 2 years later...

As I said, he was injured for some of the time. Maybe he decided to heal his injuries by going to music festivals again? That worked last time :lolol:

I actually looked up his season a few days ago, seems he did have some injuries but form was also an issue. Hul really was his last chance saloon for making a career at a decent level. I dread to think where he will end up next.

Or decided to have a few early nights?

He didn’t impress at a mid-table Championship side…I think he’ll be lucky to get a lower Champ club.

Two goals on his birthday….unlikely I’d say.

Let’s not forget he has European experience as well! Who better to lead our charge onto the continent?

My female dentist has a large tooth tattooed on her arm; I’ve posted about this before. I also find your generalisation quite offensive as I know many educated people who have tattoos. And ignoring education, I know many people who are just decent people who also have tattoos.

This is all ifs and buts though; we don’t have a peak Murray. The clubs approach is to not spend tens of millions on a supposedly proven striker but take calculated punts on them and also have midfielders who can score. To be fair, it’s a system which seems to be working as we have achieved our...

[Albion] Aaron Connolly - joining Hull permanently

Maybe, maybe not. We’ll never know. I also completely disagree with the mindset that if you’re a lesser team you shouldn’t try things teams stacked with world class players do; or am I missing your point? Thankfully none of our players or coaching staff have this attitude and I would suggest...

Barber has said the club don’t necessarily see the value in spending huge amounts on strikers, and that they will look for value but also have a playing style which can get goals from other areas. I don’t think they’ve given up, more they don’t want to be a hostage to an expensive proven goal...

[Albion] Aaron Connolly - joining Hull permanently

First thing he did when he went to Boro was get a huge tattoo of himself scoring a goal and his partner plastered their swanky new accommodation all over Insta. This wasn’t quite the reaction I was hoping for. Venice seemed ideal, and the noises he made before his departure suggested he’d...

Regarding the club-should-have-loaned-him-out argument….we did loan him out once it was realised this might be a better option.

To be fair, how many other clubs produce excellent strikers?

But what about the subsequent loan failings? Why are all these turning to shit as well? Things don’t always work out, so why didn’t he go away on loan and work on things. I understand the pressure, but as with everyone in life, sometimes things don’t go to plan and we have to have a rethink...

Agree. And the club’s pathway, processes etc has allowed other players to flourish. Not ever player will make it.
