Had my first drink of the year on Valentines. This then rolls into 2 or 3 other times since I have had a beer. This is the problem for me, if I do not rink at all for a sustained period then I am fine. When I do have a beer or two it seems to snowball.

Same. Plan as I do every year is dry January. If I still has no desire or temptation to drink beyond January then I will stick with it.

Agree with this. The Windmill sell Becks blue on tap which tastes much nice than the bottled beers mainly because it is served very cold and feels refreshing like a proper beer on a warm summer day.

I have edited my post because yes you are right, I should not have called you a tw@t. You however are making the same sweeping judgments as I am by stating that drinking 3 days a week is not alcohol dependency, it may very well be for that individual.

The same as any other drug. You do not have to take it every day to have an addiction.

Depends how much you drink surely? If you got hammered 3 nights a week then I would question that.

If you view not drinking as a 'punishment' then there lies the issue. I do dry Jan every year as I enjoy it, I normally end up going way beyond Jan too as I enjoy it so much in fact.

This. I do dry can and stoptober (annoying term) every year. I do it not to be self righteous at all but as a reminder to myself that I do not need to drink. I know I am going to drink a fair bit over Christmas and so a bit of time off now will not do me any harm!
