Had my first drink of the year on Valentines. This then rolls into 2 or 3 other times since I have had a beer. This is the problem for me, if I do not rink at all for a sustained period then I am fine. When I do have a beer or two it seems to snowball.
Agree with this. The Windmill sell Becks blue on tap which tastes much nice than the bottled beers mainly because it is served very cold and feels refreshing like a proper beer on a warm summer day.
I am sure I read that the current 18-25 are very low consumers of alcohol compared to previous generations by quite some way. A huge number are health conscious and so I guess hangovers and early gym sessions do not mix, sure cost comes into it too! This must be contributing to the growing...
Ok, then my point was that you cannot state with certainty that drinking 3 nights a week every week is not alcohol dependency. Surely it depends on quality and way in which that person drinks. If for example they have 3 day benders from the moment they finish work on a Friday through to the...
I have edited my post because yes you are right, I should not have called you a tw@t. You however are making the same sweeping judgments as I am by stating that drinking 3 days a week is not alcohol dependency, it may very well be for that individual.
Perhaps you are being a bit ignorant and arrogant yourself mate. This is an interesting thread full of people discussing their own experiences and views. Mine is that drinking 3 times a week could be considered as an issue as pointed out in the AC documentary. You think that it is all rot, that...
Ok, the AC documentary is rubbish then, personally I thought it was very enlightening and shows that many of us bury our head in the sand when it comes to alcohol consumption.
The point of the documentary was that alcohol seems to be the only exception to the drug rule, would you class someone...
Hence why I said sorry for being a dick because the British attitude to alcohol is to bury our heads in the sand, pretend we do not have an issue and also assume we can;t have fun at a party without it!
Depends on the varied definitions of alcoholism. 3 days a week or drinking over 150 days of the year I would class as a reliance on alcohol if not a dependence. This is why the Adrian Chiles documentary is so good, we often assume that being an alcoholic means vodka in the work drawer or...
Sorry to be a dick but drinking 3 days a week is not disciplined, it is more disciplined than drinking every day of course but three days a week would be classed as alcohol dependency,
If you view not drinking as a 'punishment' then there lies the issue. I do dry Jan every year as I enjoy it, I normally end up going way beyond Jan too as I enjoy it so much in fact.
This. I do dry can and stoptober (annoying term) every year. I do it not to be self righteous at all but as a reminder to myself that I do not need to drink. I know I am going to drink a fair bit over Christmas and so a bit of time off now will not do me any harm!
