I'm entirely with you on this. I stopped (as I have always done) in January and then just carried on. I haven't given up booze, but just don't choose to have one today. I can't see a time when I would drink again, but it's not verboten or against my values, I just don't. It seems to work for me...
I've been off the booze for about two and half years now. I genuinely don't miss it any more. And I was known to love all the crafty beers and had a lot of white wine stored up. I tried alcohol free beers way back and they were terrible, but the technology has moved on massively and there are...
Can I recommend St Peter's Without. There are a couple of variants, a regular, dark bitter and a lighter cross over bitter called Gold. I think there is also an organic version.
Comes from the fantastic St Peter's Brewery in Suffolk. The owner was diagnosed with cancer and told he couldn't...
Totally recommend this. I did it two years ago and haven't touched a drop since (which isn't the point in the Experiment actually - but can be a consequence). One of the great part of this is that you can connect with other people doing the experiment with you. 10/10 suggest it to her.
Totally agree with Bry Nylon - I stopped Jan 1 2019 and haven't drunk since (used The Alcohol Experiment, much discussed on NSC, to help me stop outright).
I haven't given up alcohol - and when mates say "are you teetotal?" I say "No. But I haven't had a drink today. I could do tomorrow if I...
I'm 100% with you. I haven't stopped drinking, I just haven't had an alcoholic drink for 13 months. I could, and might, have one tomorrow. I probably won't. I feel better, sleep better, make better decisions and life is simpler if I don't drink. I've got past the "will it make others...
Day 380 off the booze (last Jan 1). It does get easier.
I can highly recommend St Clements - available in Asda, Saino and a few others (Ocado). It's sparkling apple and pear and at a pinch it could pass for one of those fruity ciders. Nice alternative to soft drinks, water and so on.
The brilliant thing about the Alcohol Experiment is that it's just that, an experiment. You spend 30 days learning to understand about alcohol, and your relationship to it. You are the experiment - you observe yourself and learn so much. It's fascinating, I promise. Give it a go (and it's free)...
Can't agree with that. If you have to fight every day you will almost always fail in the long term. You need an entire change in your relationship to booze if your going to create sustainable changes.
I strongly recommend the Alcohol Experiment even if you just want to understand what alcohol...
I had a drink on Jan 1st, so sometime around lunchtime tomorrow will be one year for me. I used the Alcohol Experiment during my usual dry January, and it had a huge impact on me. I genuinely haven't had an issue staying off the booze - perhaps one or two "it might be nice" moments during social...
I hate to say this, but I highly doubt you are sleeping "well". If you want to understand it a bit more, the Alcohol Experiment focuses on this quite a lot (and it's free info).
Totally this. People ask me if I've given up drinking. I say no - I could have a beer tomorrow. I just don't need or want one. It's been a complete mind shift. I'm still a bit amazed by it. Out with a client last night for drinks and food, and I just stuck with tap water. Still had a great...
