    [Politics] Brexit

The reason the airports are not full of people in the same situation is because the issue only affects the passport for a slither of a time window, and then only for people who renewed their passport early. If someone has been routinely travelling between the UK and and EU I can understand why...

Bit harsh. As has been said, most would assume a passport with 8 months left is valid.

i remember when food shortages was called Project Fear Why are UK supermarkets facing fresh food shortages? https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/feb/22/problem-shortage-fresh-food-uk-supermarkets “Are things worse in the UK than the rest of Europe? It seems so. There are no reports of...

The single market is the silver bullet to fire-up the economy. More and more people see this week by week.

The other thing which seems to have bypassed many is that you actually need a healthy supply of workers and competition for jobs; it isn’t a case of if there’s 100 jobs then invite/train 100 people as they might not all be good.

All those Breixteers who thought they’d be getting rid of foreigners now have a load of Indians turning up. Gotta laugh haven't you.

Break off easy and frictionless trade with the world’s biggest trading block, and now look to rebuild trade with the world’s biggest trading block. Genius.

Caused by the pound weakening even further against the dollar. Sad times, very sad times for the UK.

Fair enough. But a weak pound and more paperwork, on balance, isn’t a very sustainable option for the UK.

I have read a review of this program…it doesn’t mention anything like this as a takeaway. I’m of the opinion your mind was made up before you watched it. I will watch it myself though.

Fair comment. It’s like the lorry drivers. It was abundantly clear there would be more friction at the borders, and if anyone should be aware of this it’s lorry drivers who were witnessing and using the benefits of the customs union each and every crossing. They then complained when customs...

I totally agree. But the idea of northerners switching to scallops and langoustines followed by pan-fried turbot and monkfish isn’t happening in my life time. In fact, I’d spend the energy educating them in other areas first. Turbot is a lovely fish. Shame it’s at top dollar yet British...

I feel sorry for them in one sense as their livelihoods have been ruined. But equally there’s a certain level of stupidity in that they were used and taken for mugs. And their sycophantic behavior when Boris was in town was just weird. We are all ultimately accountable for our individual...

That’s fine is they don’t vote. But if they chose to vote, with all the consequences of the vote, and have little interest or understanding then that does make you a bit thick imho. I wouldn’t do something, which has significant impact on others, without at least educating myself first.

I have been a couple of times but I have also spent the last 3 years working with a Swedish office in Gothenburg. Amongst many things, I just like their approach and attitude to work and life. And who wouldn’t love a Fika?

This thought did cross my mind. I appreciate you have your reasons but from my experience Sweden seems a nice place, good standard of living and quality of life, language isn’t much of an issue and a country which isn’t falling to bits.

I know of people who’ve had issues with them . The HO is an utter embarrassment of a department at best, cruel at worst. It’s a common complaint there’s no meaningful way to hold them accountable to anything. I wish you all the best.
