The trouble is I think in your area the Terrapins have a lot of food opportunities i.e. small fish whereas in wild ponds or places where there are just newts they can be destructive.. As you say they are unlikely to breed so should be a limited issue. I assume pet shops aren't allowed to sell...

There are a number of these in various ponds around the place - personal view is they need to be taken out of the wild as they are non native and a threat to creatures such as newts. There is/was a pond in peacehaven that had crested newts in it but a mixture of terrapins/turtles and goldfish...

I am in the process of trying to log/record/list/photograph the different species of birds that visit the small wood and surrounding area of Woodingdean cemetery. Up to 21 for this year so far which I think is quite good for such a small area. I am using a Olympus om-d em10ii and a Panasonic...

I have not used Darktable but use an old version of Lightroom (v5.7) and Photoshop Elements (v11) so not trapped in monthly/annual costs. Most of the products do teh same thing, some better than others. I think Lightroom is still the best and its user interface is very good IMO. Regards the...

I have a Pentax k70... Can use the native old lenses on it from 40 years ago also have a simple adapter for m42 lenses to fit Pentax. They are excellent value if you don't mind manual focus and settings. My eyes are beginning to let me down a bit with MF for astro work but you do get focus...

Thanks I think you are right, first recorded 100 years ago but though rapid increase in last 20 years - saying that it was first one i have seen. This in the newly (4 years) set up wildness area near the cemetery in Woodingdean. absolutely striking looking mini-beast.

There is a new wilderness area in Woodingdean which I have taken a bit of an interest in. A good variety (and volume) of butterflies though nothing too special . This spider took my interest... It appears to be a visitor to this country which has started to breed here.

One of my best images of the summer, it's something i wanted to see in the wild for 55 years.... Heavily cropped and light boosted as it was quite over clouded .

I am all for post processing, mainly cropping and changing the amount of light , yep and a bit of sharpening. In my opinion wild life images are difficult to get as you don't have studio conditions , often its a quick snap before the target disappears so making it look better really is not...
