Calde does an awful lot for CTH; he's a very nice guy too, as most people know.

I thought that on some of the down hills, it was a bit scarey when you hit a pot hole on a road bike as I'm normally MTB with nobblies! Great effort on the 100k though, well done. Maybe a NSC Team next year?

Did the Chestnut Tree Children's Hospice Sussex 100 on Sunday (although I did what was suppoed to be the 60km route, which ended up as 68km as I missed a turn!) Didn't use the Boardman took out the Dawes Road Bike. Found the hills around Bentley, Ashdown Forest, etc bloody frequent! (If...

I've recently purchased a 2013 Boardman MTB Pro, cracking value and a great bike, IMHO

Indeed, I have an early Dawes Road Bike and the MTB won't be leaping over trees and rolling down muddy slopes either, I'm getting too old for that!

It's the competitive element I need, so maybe Strava is it?

I ended up with a Boardman (2011-13) MTB Pro which retailed around the £1,100 mark for £549 plus £50 voucher ... result IMHO? Training for the Sussex 100, although I'm only doing the 60 .... sponsor form to follow! Using Endomondo and just wondered what people thought of Strava and which was...

Hi Guys, Thanks for all the advice and support shown a few months ago. I eventually went for the Boardman (2011-13) MTB Pro (Med), and although it retailed at just over £1,000 I saw it had dropped to £899 due to the new bike coming out. I left it a while having noted that Halfords still had...

That's interesting, may take another look. Someone mentioned that there is a VooDoo brand made in the US which is top notch and one made in Cambodia, for Halfords, so I guess need to check as to which one they are referring, but if it is UK Halfords may be worth me looking again.

He said they all had VooDoo's, apparently more reliable and a better "brake/gear" set? * I took to read that the VooDoo had a catchier name and more funky decals, which won't mean a great deal when I'm trying to gain traction or stop before a significantly thick tree! Taking into consideration...

I spoke about these as the 2013 one, top spec was going for about £799, seemed a bargain when you look at it, for some reason the youngster, sorry, Bike Technician, said they weren't that good?

Excellent have the MAG elite training stand thingy, had a go last night the only bit you don't get is cars whizzing by, which is excellent and will get me going until the weather and light turns. Halfords were doing 3 for 2, but started to lump six products together and give me the two...

Sorry see what you mean, bikes rather than stands! Yes, will take a look also. Think I'm going to need to stick a few winter miles on my existing bikes to justify to the other half of the Finance Committee (Mrs OW) that this is an essential purchase!

Going to see one in Halford's tomorrow, was £149 down to £75. Will check out this also, thanks, Tim

Now at 5' 5" and weighing in at nearly 14 stone I've got a feeling I may not be getting one of these really soon!

A couple of other quick questions: What's the difference between an Hard Tail and a Hard Tail29er? Am I correct in thinking that buying such a bike second hand is a bit risky due to possible damage? They don't seem much cheaper considering the risk?
