The Tape
Very enjoyable indie movie on Prime.
Songwriter who falls out of love with the industry becomes a cleaner in cornwall. City type feels drained by corporate life and returns to family home in the west. Nature starts to heal all.
Good original music too.
Some of these are not very obscure kids!!
Try "Love" on Netflix. Really nuanced love story about a recovering alcoholic (her) and a "square" teacher (him). Totally engaging with some well develop support characters. LA based, so slightly up itself, but worth trying. 7/10
Two episodes in to "Maid" on Netflix.
Very engaging lead character dealing with life after escaping a violent partner. Promising.
Btw, fancied trying Ted Lasso but can't find it. Anyone know where it might be?
City on the hill is a grower. Boston events hard to follow and some clearly not authentic, but very watchable. Poor man's The Wire.

Designated Survivor (recommend above) it's not in the same league as West Wing or House of Cards (though it has nicked the music), but it is diverting white house tv. Suspend your disbelief and it's quite acceptable.
Binged "Wet Hot American Summer Camp: first day of camp" this week. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/wet_hot_american_summer/s01
Very funny if you like Airplane type comedy. This series is a prequel to the movie made in 2001 using many of the same actors. Now playing younger versions of...
Anyone watching The Sinner on Netflix? Originally conceived as a stand alone eight part serious but so good the made series 2.
Young mum inexplicably stabs a man to death in broad daylight. We go back to work out why with detective dealing with his own demons.
Binged it. Jessica Biel very...
Not obscure but I think a lot of people missed it - Tin Star on Sky was absolutely absorbing.
Tim Roth character was brilliant. And some youngsters in the cast who were great acting finds. A treat - you will binge.
(Apols if this has already been suggested - didn't see it referred to)
Lots of people recommended Eastbound & Down sp I went old skool and bought Season 1 and Season 2 at HMV. Very enjoyable but I don't keep DVDs. So anyone who fancies trying it out and who doesn't download from dodgy sources, they're both here in eBay...
The Riches with Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver as a con man and wife who almost settle down was great. Seemed to slip under the radar. Definitely worth a watch.
Not obscure but dont miss Boardwalk Empire. Watch from the start - it gets better and better.
Some very good tips on this thread...
