[Albion] Anyone else have the sinking feeling that this is Gross’s last game for us too?

But isn’t TB’s ethos that literally anyone can leave mid contract with his blessing, if suitable compensation is paid?
and what do you think suitable compensation would be to sell a player who has been consistently delivering in the best league in the world for seven seasons, and is able to offer the experience, continuity and stability that we are desperately going to need after the departure of the manager? because i think it’s definitely going to be more than whatever frankfurt would be willing to offer us for a 32 year old with one year left on his deal

he is still contracted here for another year. if TB needs to explain to him in no uncertain terms that he needs him to stay, i’m sure something could be worked out. if pascal is still 100% adamant on leaving (which by the way there’s no evidence for) then i’m sure he’d let him go. but i’m also sure that with recent events, TB is now even more likely to do everything in his power to keep hold of him
But this didn’t happen with Caicedo, Trossard, MacAllister etc - they left when they wanted despite all having fairly decent length contracts left

because suitable amounts of compensation were offered. which is not what we’d get for a player in his 30s with one year left on his deal. the experience he offers is worth way more than the €4M or so we’d get for pascal now.

in any case we didn’t sell caicedo in january because it wasn’t convenient for us. i’m saying it’s not convenient for us to let pascal go now

Imagine starting a whole thread just to brag. What is the world coming to?

The answer is probably yes - our last chance to get a fee for him.
Oi!!! He is a lovely guy whose English is better than a lot on here. 😂😂😂😂

But didn’t ’recent developments’ happen yesterday also?
Yes and the answer to my question when asked was that he is staying. Nobody knew about RDZ decision 24 hrs earlier so Gross would not have had time to process that. It is not unreasonable to assume he COULD have a change of heart with what has happened in the last day or so.

With no manager he may have loyalty towards and for only time in his career a chance to play for a top German side would think he will be off

I have a tenner on him to score. He loves scoring against Manchester United. I’ll be far more gutted if he goes than any player I can remember - maybe Zamora first time around. He’s a club legend - using that term appropriately and without hyperbole.

And he’ll score today if picked.

It’s certainly possible. He has had a great couple of seasons, so this is his best chance to get a good German side interested in him. It doesn’t help that we have no manager so he might feel it’s a good time to start somewhere new now, rather than learning a new style of another manager here, and the possibility of it not working out for him.

I’d be surprised if Bayern didn’t go for him after getting close to signing Trippier, a player with similar assist stats and a similar age and pace.

If a German Champions league team come in for him, I don’t see how we keep him sadly. We normally sell our PotS and a good Euros for him will put the nail in the coffin.

For me, only Dunk is more of an Albion legend.

Wish I hadn't voted him player of the season if he goes, seems we lose our player of the season for the next season and I really don't want him to go yet. Another season and young Jack will be ready to take over.

If it is his last ever game, at least he’s not playing right back whilst there’s another right back on the bench. Oh

Yes the £115 million or any decent money isn't important :giggle:
