I saw the British entry last night. Holy shit, why do we (nearly) always get this so spectacularly wrong? I can’t stand the Europop stuff m'self but if you want to have a chance of winning you have to play the game.

Not sure if I’ll watch. I’m dreading the inevitable politicking. I bet we’ll see a few Palestine flags courageously brandished by the clueless crooning sheep.

am I the only one who thinks the ESC is turning into a competition to see who could be the most shocking and outrageous?

I know in the past we had lordi trash metalling it everywhere and the German person in rubber, but yesterday we had olly and his gang gyrating about the place totally forgetting that he actually needs to sing in tune and hitting at least some notes…..Ireland song was just bloody weird In the same vein.

croatia at least tried to provide something that was fun As did Cypru.

i must be getting old

The best Eurovision song of all time - IMO.

No gimmicks, no bollox, no complicated set, no acres of flesh, just a really good song with superb lyrics, sung perfectly by Niamh Kavanagh.

Ms Kavanagh spent some time working in Tesco a few years ago (nothing wrong with that).

The Irish press did a story on it, under the headline "In Your Aisles".

Excellent. I hadn't seen that before.

I scroll down and it goes right. Scroll up and it goes left. That's so Irish. (y)

That's all very well, but it's not a patch on Ireland's best ever entry:

Why does the UK contestant have to have men in boxing outfits alongside him ? Is this a gay statement in our name or a nod to the Village People ?

Croatia to win and the UK to be in the top 10, 7 to 1. Tempting, Croatia by far the best song I would not be surpised it got the highest public vote in Eurovision history but unfortunately the UK song is utter Toilet
