    [Politics] Lloyd Russell-Moyle

The Lib dems got 11% of the vote in 2019 but only got 11 seats, they should have got 75. The Greens should have got 27. The tories got 43% of the votes but got 56% of seats. The SNP only got under 4% of the votes but bagged a whopping 48 seats. FPTP doesn’t reward popularity.

    [Politics] Lloyd Russell-Moyle

There’s an average of 70k voters per constituency. If there’s more than 70k Marxists (or Britain Firsts or Judean People’s Front) then FPTP is denying them representation. Why is your a-bit-left-of-centre representation more important than theirs just because you don’t like them ? The...

Proportional Representation would get you what you want. At the fringes you’d have Communists and Fascists (representing minority extremes in the general population) but the majority would tend towards centrist coalitions.

    [Politics] Lloyd Russell-Moyle

Reminds me of Brighton in the 80s where there was an almost McCarthyist pogrom against Militant Tendency and several people were accused and suspended with little or no evidence.

[Politics] The NSC 'up all night' election night laughathon #unofficial# thread

Wispa first. Looks good but the aerated centre always leaves you felling a bit mis-sold. Freddo last. Punches well above its weight. Middle is up to you but alternation is best so I’d go Little Bar, Fudge, Buttons, Crunchie. Object being to start when the first result comes in and string it out...

[Technology] Checking the best broadband provider in your area

Would depend on the postcode. There a number of altnet providers might be worth a look (I’m with Lightning Fibre in Eastbourne and they’re very good)

[Football] If Manchester City were expelled...

The best time for the FA/PL to act and punish Man City for their (alleged) transgressions is now, before the season has started (so obviously they will wait until Christmas). Supposing the PL decided that expulsion from the league was warranted, who would take their place ? Would it be the...

[Football] Man City 115 FFP/PSR charges explained

One season in the Championship isn’t really an onerous punishment though, is it ? It’s more suffering an inconvenience in order to draw a line under it. If they are found guilty (assuming anything ever happens) then expulsion from the league is more suitable; make them start in the North West...

[Politics] The NSC 'up all night' election night laughathon #unofficial# thread

I’ll be pulling an all-nighter if I can, certainly not in bed before 4. As I’m retired it shouldn’t matter but my boy is getting wedded on the 6th so I need to reasonably awake/sober. 1997 I was a Labour candidate in the local election which was held the same day and after polling we all...

    [News] Post Office Scandal -

I am a complainy bastard and not shy of writing (actual letters mind, none of this email shennanigans) to a CEO to complain. I once got a letter back from the CEO of the Woolwich Building Society apologising for the problem and assuring me it would be sorted (Woolwich were unable to take...

Very interesting, can you share the details ? I’s just the sort of thing I’d like to set up in my workshop.

They need electricity from the grid to operate. How or why I don't know, but that's what I was told about mine. Anyway, I bought a wind up radio but every time I turn it on it says "You're a bit fat ain't you?"
