Clear all cookies for NSC regardless of timeframe:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome .
  2. At the top right, click Settings .
  3. In the left hand menu, click Privacy and security
  4. In the main menu, middle of screen, click Cookies and other site data.
  5. Scroll down and click See all site data and permissions.
  6. In the search bar, top right, type northstandchat
  7. To the right of the site, click Remove or the bin icon.
  8. To confirm, click Clear.
Can't get past 3. 4 isn't there on my Samsung Tablet or Samsung phone and both still show Bad Request.

Just wanted to thank Bozza for pointing out solutions. I had problems solved via android solution. I hope a long term solution can be found at some point.

Here
This is starting to get really annoying…can get NSC loud and clear on my phone but unable to access anything on my Mac, just get Page Could Not Be Loaded all the time

I haven't had any issues (use DuckDuckGo on my phone), but I'd just like to emphasise how much I admire the effort Bozza's putting into fixing the problems and helping people out.
...Should we be increasing his NSC salary and fees??

My only issue is the ads still, both the size of them and quantity. Sometimes my entire screen is an advert with no forum to be seen, just as you manage to scroll past that another one appears at the bottom. Way too many ads spoiling the site.

When you are logged in, the ads are set out like this...

All pages
Top banner
Bottom banner (most people probably never even seen this one)

Viewing the Big Board
After 10th thread
After 24th thread
After 38th thread

Viewing a thread
After 1st post
After 8th post
Above quick reply box

Mobile
Sticky bottom bar

The spacing of the ads is entirely intentional, and there should be only one ad on screen at a time. There is a scenario that doesn't work because when viewing a thread with exactly one or eight posts in it, at the time of viewing, as I've not found a way for the forum to "detect" that and not show the ad above the quick reply box at that time. But it's on my list to resolve.

Currently the mid-page ads on mobile are too big, and I'm going to get that changed so they take up a lot less screen space.

Sometimes the bottom banner does a takeover thing whereby it fills a gap in the screen as you scroll though. I'm going to get that changed too.

I don’t get why my ads aren’t relevant to my search history on here. You can normally search for something and then wait for the deals to come in.

How do you get rid of the ads on here ? It didn’t used to be that bad but recently NSC has started to resemble other ad strewn, unreadable football websites. This happens whilst I am logged in.
There are no more ads than there has been for months/years.

However as I posted above on mobile the mid-page ad units are larger than they used to be, taking up more vertical screen space so it may feel as if there are more.

Again, as I posted above, I am going to get this remedied and have them changed to narrower banners.

I’m also working on something that a fair few people have asked for before which is an optional “NSC supporter” thing whereby, for a payment, you get a few extra bells and whistles, including the option of ad-free views.

OK then no changes. What was being done that brought about the disruption
I'm not saying there weren't changes, as there were, but I wanted to make sure I was answering the right question!

I was unpicking a few legacy behind-the-scenes things that had become a bit of a mess and may well have tripped the site over in the future. I wanted to do it in a semi-controlled manner instead of, at some point, things breaking and me having no idea why.

Cloudflare CDN and name servers being the main one, for the very curious.

On Apple devices I use the Microsoft Edge app.

Getting nsc back was solved by deleting the app, then getting the app again.

All good now.
That was probably just a very extreme way of deleting cookies!
